According to a Rasmussen survey, support for repeal of President Obama’s massive government-run healthcare bill has jumped to its highest level ever. In Kentucky, 65% of likely voters favor repealing the law.
However, Jack Conway proudly announced that he would have voted for Obamacare.
When questioned about the portion of the bill that forces Americans to buy government-approved health insurance, Jack Conway said, “My copy of the Constitution doesn’t carry a right not to be insured” as seen in the clip below:
This statement demonstrates a complete lack of understanding when it comes to the law. The Constitution is a clear list of what the federal government has the legal power to do; forcing citizens to buy insurance is not included in the document and is therefore unconstitutional.
Setting aside the constitutional issues, new information reveals that Obamacare will have horrific effects on American families and small businesses. The WSJ reports:
President Obama guaranteed Americans that after health reform became law they could keep their insurance plans and their doctors. It’s clear that this promise cannot be kept. Insurers and physicians are already reshaping their businesses as a result of Mr. Obama’s plan.
The health-reform law caps how much insurers can spend on expenses and take for profits. Starting next year, health plans will have a regulated “floor” on their medical-loss ratios, which is the amount of revenue they spend on medical claims. Insurers can only spend 20% of their premiums on running their plans if they offer policies directly to consumers or to small employers. The spending cap is 15% for policies sold to large employers.
This regulation is going to have its biggest impact on insurance sold directly to consumers—what’s referred to as the “individual market.” These policies cost more to market. They also have higher medical costs, owing partly to selection by less healthy consumers.
Finally, individual policies have high start-up costs. If insurers cannot spend more of their revenue getting plans on track, fewer new policies will be offered.
Liberal Lawyer Jack Conway endorsed President Obama’s out-of-touch and costly spending policies in Washington and he continues to ignore the fact that an overwhelming majority of voters in Kentucky have rejected DC Democrats’ massive health spending bill.

Jack Conway needs to take a civics lesson, the Constitution doesn’t grant the people rights, our rights are inherent and come from our Creator. The Constitution only grants powers to the government. But Article 1, Section 8 says nothing about mandated insurance coverage, nor is it anywhere else to be found our sacred document. Thus, the 10th Amendment must apply, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Federally mandated health coverage is unconstitutional per the analysis above and I won’t even get into the interstate commerce clause argument. Now to be fair, Jack Conway is a trial lawyer and his real passion lies in tort law. I doubt he took his Constitutional law courses too seriously a few years ago when he was in law school.

I remember when Jack Conway refused to join with the other states to challenge Obamacare. Even Mongiardo disagreed with that decision. We desperately need Rand in Washington.

It seems like government is trying to do too much at just the moment it should be slowing down. The uninsured are a problem but this is making things worse and the spending is unsustainable.
Jack Conway should move to NY or California, he has more in common with the liberals in New York and California than with the average Kentuckian.

I support healthcare reform but obamacare was the wrong way to go!
This is one of the most important issues to me as a healthcare provider myself, and anyone who would support this attrocious Obamacare legislation has no understanding of the impacts it has on the field – getting in the way of the doctor and the patient even more.
my parents are both doctors and they said many other doctors will be unable to bear with the regulation and bureucracy from obamacare and will retire
I agree that most older doctors will retire. Many younger doctors will find other ways to make money or, as we see France and Belgium, move to a more practice-friendly country. The way to make healthcare more expensive is to reduce its supply, which is exactly what this legislation does.
We need health reform, but OBAMACARE is not the right way to go!
